Started to work in the mobile industry as a Software developer for Nokia-Copenhagen from 1999 to 2007. In 2007 I and 2 other Nokians went to Beijing to build up a new department, transfer knowledge from Copenhagen to Beijing, I tried to use Scrum in 2008 and realized how it could help our teams to work in a much more flexible way, how it could give the developers a much stronger commitment and pleasure in their work.
I returned to Copenhagen in 2009 and was part of the Agile transformation that Nokia went through, I decided to leave Nokia in 2011 just before they announced that they would close the Copenhagen site, I started to work in Sony(Ericsson) as a section manager for up to 38 developers, we have done a lot of things during the last 2 years.
Short intro to the presentation:
The story is taking place in Beijing November 2008. I was responsible for building up UI development and maintenance on Nokia’s S30 platform (low cost phones). We were struggling with the lack of skilled SW developers and big maintenance load from various projects. The developers were working overtime when they were getting close to a project deadline, to keep up with the number of issues.
We decided to test Kanban in our maintenance team and found that we with a simple change could increase the output with 70%.
